Kalloni Saltpans
A quick drive along the canal road.
Little Ringed Plover, Little Stint, Black-winged Stilt, Wood Sandpiper, Avocet, White-winged Black Tern, Greater Flamingo, Shelduck, Bee-eater, Crested Lark, Corn Bunting.
Arrived at our base for two weeks at the eastern end of Anexos.
Around our apartment
House Sparrow, Barn Swallow, Red-rumped Swallow, Jackdaw, Greenfinch.
Monday 2 May Anexos
Morning walk around the olive groves and fields to the west of the village. Blue Tit, Sedge Warbler, Chaffinch, Blackcap, Blackbird, Great Tit, Nightingale, Masked Shrike, Collared Dove, Goldfinch.

Kavaki Peregrine Tuesday 3 May Morning showers, cool wind and sunny rest of day. Kalloni Salt Pans Road Great White Egret, Grey Heron, Spur-winged Lapwing

Kaloni Bay
Cormorant, Whimbrel, Common Tern, Little Tern.
Racetrack Road Spanish Sparrow, Kalloni Saltpans NE corner Dalmatian Pelican, Little Egret.

Tsiknias River Moorhen, Common Snipe, Cetti's Warbler, Great Reed Warbler, Back-headed Bunting, Little Bittern, Little Ringed Plover, (One legged) Greenshank, Black Stork. Near Anemotia Montagu's Harrier. Metochi Lake Coot. Tsiknias River Squacco Heron, Sand Martin, Hoopoe. Wednesday 4 May Anexos An Eastern Hedgehog (Erinaceus concolor) was found swimming in the 'Tadpole River' at the western end of the beach. It was swimming confidently though Common Reedbeds and was probing the holes in the wall that line the river for food. Cirl Bunting.

Thursday 5 May Stipsi Rock Nuthatch, Common Buzzard. Mandamados Eleanor's Falcon Scarla Kayia Shag, White Wagtail Perasma Reservoir Whinchat. Anexos From apartment balcony Cirl Bunting, Eleanor's Falcon, Alpine Swift, Bee-eater Late walk home from bar Barn Owl Friday 6 May Track to Mt. Ordimnos as far as tip Linnet, Little Owl, Spotted Flycatcher, Pithariou Reservoir Eleanor's Falcon, Short-toed Eagle, Scala Eresou, Turtle Bridge Golden Oriole heard in nearby poplars. Eresou to Sigri Road Squacco Heron, Icterine Warbler, Spotted Flycatcher, Stonechat.

Saturday 7 May Nappi Valley Black Stork, Alpine Swift, Turtle Dove, Long-legged Buzzard. Kalami Marsh Lapwing, Ring-tailed Harrier, Achladeri Forest Ring-tailed Harrier, Kruper's Nuthatch. Kalloni Saltpans Ringed Plover. Sunday 8 May Anexos Lesser Whitethroat. Monday 9 May Metochi Lake Little Grebe, Tuesday 10 May Voulgaris River area
Little Bittern, Cuckoo, Fan-tailed Warbler.

Wednesday 11 May
Agiassos very quiet bird wise.
Anexos evening walk around olive groves to west of village Scoops Owl up to 3, but this species call does carry a long way. No Nightingales singing in the dark, despite the presence of several in the mornings! Only bat on the detector was Common Pipistrelle.
Thursday 12 May
Limani Kapis
A shearwater presumed Yelkouan laded on the water off the harbour for a while, until chased off by a Yellow-legged Gull.
Molivos
Common Swift, Kestrel species seen briefly probably Lesser.
Friday 13 May
Ipsilou Monastery
Northen Wheatear, Blue Rock Thrush, Woodlark.
Petrified Forest Road Pond
Two Grass Snakes put on a prolonged show, but seem to fail to catch anything. Isabelline Weatear.


Sigri area was very quiet apart from a seemingly never-ending passage, in both direction of Yelkouan Shearwater, way off the coast.
Saturday 14 May
Kavaki
A couple of hours spent early morning produced little, other than brief views of a female Sardinian Warbler.
Anexos
The photos below are of 3 insects found by some Dutch Entomologists at the back of our apartment, as we walked past to go out for an evening meal. All photos taken with my camera's phone.

Sunday 15 May
Kalloni Saltpans
One last run along an almost wader-less canal found a single Stone Curlew, on the dried up field. It was then back to the airport for the flight home.
